Ted Gravlin (Tedge)
Name: Ted “The Tedge” Gravlin Birthday: March 5, 1964 Zodiac Sign: Pisces Birthplace: Trenton, Michigan Current Hometown: Highlands Ranch, Colorado Eye Color: Brown Height: 5’ 10” Instrument: Guitar, backing vocals, keyboards Years in Music: 25+ years. When I was 7 my mom bought me a guitar from a neighbor for $20. (I still have it). I took lessons for a few years as a kid and eventually formed a band with my younger brother who still plays drums in one of the best bands in Detroit. We played lots of shows at colleges in the Midwest during the 80's. I moved to Colorado in the early 90s because I was a ski instructor at that time. Until joining "Under A Blood Red Sky" I played guitar and sang at ski resorts like Copper Mountain and Vail. My standard joke about that is that I know how to play 300 songs, but I don't know what they are. I still get to play a few days a year in Vail and it's a real blast. Job I'd Love to Have: Fighter Pilot Job I'd Hate: Anything to do with food or a restaurant Favorite U2 Song to Perform: Either "Until The End Of The World" or "Electric Co" Favorite U2 Album: U2's 1983 album from Red Rocks used to LIVE on my turntable during college. Most Memorable Gig: Red Rocks Right or Left Handed: Right Hobbies: Flying airplanes and skiing. I also own a business in south Denver and have young kids at home…that keeps me pretty busy. Favorite Sports Team: I’d rather play sports than watch! Thoughts First Waking Up: When on the road, where am I? What Place Would You Most Like To Visit: Antarctica or Normandy/Omaha Beach Role in the Band: I work to make the band sound as if you're at an actual U2 show. To do this, I do lots of research and experimenting with gear and sounds. My guitar rig is in a constant state of change as the band adds new songs to our list. Currently I have more than 15 guitars along with several amps. I've probably owned or tested most guitar effects units on the market to reproduce "Edge-like" sounds. Yes, it's true; I'm a bona fide gear geek! |
